Elegant Winter Wisconsin Wedding at Lake Wissota Golf & Events, Chippewa Falls | Kristine + Mark

From the minute I met Kris, I knew right away that she was going to be a DREAM to work with. Not only was she sweet, but she was organized, articulate, and she knew what she wanted. Kris and Mark wanted a “winter elegance” wedding day, filled with the most beautiful flowers by Allure Premiere Event Florists in Menomonie, WI. Huge floral displays of burgundy dahlias, blush garden roses, and hanging amaranthus throughout the beautiful Lake Wissota Golf & Events venue, finished off with a large wreath of cedar and eucalyptus to hang at the ceremony head.

Since luscious florals were going to decorate the venue in such an extravagant way, I knew that I wanted to incorporate them into their custom wedding invitations. Kris chose a luscious black pocketfold invitation collection to house all of the important details of their big day. Inside the pocketfold, I created an elegant invitation layered over a burgundy mat to coordinate with the flowers that would be on display. I chose an elegant script calligraphy font to highlight their names and paired it with a traditional serif font. To finish the collection, Kris selected coordinating burgundy belly bands with their names in gold foil. Lastly, we chose a soft blush envelope to tie in with the blush garden roses that would be on display.

Once the invitations were assembled and mailed out to her guests, we worked on her day-of wedding items which included reserved seating signage, hors d’oeuvre table tents, a guest book sign, and lastly, a huge welcome wedding easel draped with more elegant greenery from Allure Premiere Event Florists. Be sure to check out more photos of Kristine and Mark’s big day by their wedding photographer, Sarah Louise Photography

It was such a pleasure to work with Kris and Mark on their custom wedding stationery invitations. I’m so glad I was able to finish 2018 on such a high note.

Simple French Countryside Inspired Wedding at The Mill Events, Chetek, Wisconsin | Sneak Peek

This past summer I had the opportunity to work on a gorgeous, soft, simple French countryside inspired wedding shoot with some amazing local vendors. Each Wisconsin wedding vendor brought their own talent and expertise to the table and the styled shoot fit together seamlessly.

So what’s the point of a Wedding Styled Shoot?

Styled shoots not only give wedding vendors a chance to have stunning, insanely beautiful wedding inspiration for their wedding portfolios, but it also allows us to present the possibilities of what engaged couples in the area can really do at their own wedding, especially here in Wisconsin with limited resources.

We, as wedding vendors, totally get it. Venues, decor, and details can become very mundane in this area, having limited options (and the weather doesn’t help much either). Couples tend to stick to the same “trendy” themes and decor found on Pinterest that are “budget-friendly” and let’s face it, easy—not exploring new concepts due to limited resources. That’s where these styled shoots come into play and that’s why I LOVE working with such fabulous local vendors who create timeless, cohesive inspiration for you all. Working so closely with these local wedding vendors allows us to keep your vision seamless, working together to make sure that every detail coordinates with the other. We have some of the best wedding experts here in the Midwest, in the Chippewa Valley, and I’m so thankful that I get to be able to work with them—check them out below!

I’m excited to show you a sneak peek of this simple French Countryside wedding shoot that we put together this past summer. We just got news a few weeks ago that this dreamy styled shoot will be published in just a few short weeks! and I cannot wait to show you, to inspire you, with these super romantic wedding details that every single couple here in Wisconsin can have.

Elegant Eucalyptus Destination Wedding at The Courtyard of the Maison Dupuy, New Orleans | Racquel & Dustin

Racquel and Dustin are that couple that every wedding vendor dreams of working with. Not only do they have the most impeccable taste, but Racquel was the most organized, (my love language!), thorough, and sweetest bride ever. Again. Dream.Couple.

I have all my clients fill out a wedding questionnaire to gather every detail about their wedding day in one, easy spot. Within the questionnaire, Racquel explained how they wanted to keep their wedding invitation collection clean and minimal, with a lot of white space. Together we created an elegant and effortless wedding invitation paired with soft watercolor hand-lettered calligraphy and rose-gold accents. Beyond the invitation, we created a custom map illustration of New Orleans including their rehearsal dinner location, ceremony location, and hotel accommodations & attractions. To complete the collection, the pieces were housed within a vellum eucalyptus wrap and secured with an embossed hang tag with rose-gold dipped edges <3

Scroll below to see every carefully planned detail and element from their custom wedding invitations.

I also had the pleasure of designing some day-of wedding items including a Welcome Sign and a fun Timeline Sign. I can’t forget about the custom handkerchief wedding programs that were a labor of love, but oh so worth the effort. Pictures coming, check back soon! <3

Turning Two: Looking back at Everly’s Vellum Eucalyptus First Birthday Party Invitations

I cannot believe that I’m writing this, but my baby girl turned TWO last weekend!

Simple Family Second Birthday

(blurry photos & gym clothes…real life with kiddos!)

While the days are long, the years really are so incredibly short. The past two years have been a complete whirlwind, and I know it’s true that the older they get, the faster the days pass. I remember thinking as I sat and nursed Everly every single day for an entire year that this day would never come. I thought she would need me forever. I shouldn’t have been so silly, after all I went through this whole thing with Emerson. But when you are in the trenches with a baby, the endless nursings, the awful catnaps, and the deprived sleep, you think it’s never going to end. You don’t see the light. You don’t see the small changes every day. You foolishly forget that they grow up on you. Every single day they become a little bit less dependent, a little bit smarter, also a lot more challenging 🙂 Always on the go, always getting into something, always challenging patience.

Since I had so much fun designing Everly’s first birthday invitations that were featured on Oh So Beautiful Paper, (seriously, my work was featured on Oh So Beautiful Paper?! Pinch.Me.), I thought I would take a stroll down memory lane and share them again with you all. How I LOVE how her birthday invitations turned out, with the pretty eucalyptus vellum wrap and gold-leafed embossed hang tag…the prettiest of details <3

Her birthday party mimicked the invitations perfectly, from eucalyptus table runners, coordinating placements, and of course a naked smash cake!  You don’t want to miss these cute details, click this link if you’d like to see pictures from Everly’s first birthday party! Oh how itty bitty she was <3

Decorate Your Desktop | November 2018

And just like that, the month of November is here and I have a feeling the rest of 2018 is going to F L Y by. Between two winter birthdays, deer hunting and the holidays (and we have a BIG move coming next month), November and December always fly by. Winter really starts getting long mid-January, right after the holiday chaos settles down and Emerson’s birthday has passed.

Let’s get to it! For November’s Free Decorate your Desktop wallpaper, I wanted to keep it simple and straight-forward. “Be obsessively grateful” seemed just that. As always, scroll below to get your free wallpaper backgrounds. If this particular wallpaper doesn’t do it for you, take a look at all of my recent free wallpaper background freebies. If you want something a little more festive, check out this Autumn Wallpaper I designed a few years ago along this Pumpkin Spice Inspired Wallpaper.

Modern Floral Destination Wedding at French’s Point, Maine | Courtney & Mark

Courtney reached out to me after seeing my daughter’s vellum eucalyptus first birthday invitations on Oh So Beautiful Paper, hoping I could recreate something similar for her and Mark’s destination wedding to French’s Point, Maine.

I knew right away that Courtney and Mark had the most exquisite taste. Their love for vellum, organic lines, and hand-drawn details was at the forefront of their wedding invitation collection, paired with florals in rich burgundies, deep eggplant purples, and tones of burnt orange. A custom illustration of French’s Point took center stage on the invitation itself, paired with an organic script font and soft deckled edges. The vellum wrap was adorned with bold florals and hand-drawn leafy vines, secured with their wedding date hang tag. Beyond the invitation itself, leafy vines fell across pale gray envelopes framing the addresses perfectly on both sides. As you can tell, no detail was overlooked.

Fine Art Wedding Invitation Collection

It was a huge honor to design and create something so beautiful for Courtney and Mark on their special day. I am so glad that this custom wedding invitation collection will last a lifetime and serve as a paper heirloom of the day they said “I do.”

October 15 Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

For all the babies taken from us too soon,
for our babies lost through miscarriage,
for our babies lost through stillborn,
for our babies lost to SIDS,
we will always remember you.

Miscarriage, SIDS, Stillborn Infant Pregancy loss

I can’t believe that it has been five years since we became pregnant with our first baby, a secret we kept from the whole world, wanting to protect this babe (and our hearts) from that chance of losing you. And we did. We lost our first baby to miscarriage at just under 10 weeks, a few days after New Years 2014.

Rereading that blog post, after finally finding the courage to write about our miscarriage two years later, brings back so many emotions and makes my heart hurt so bad. We didn’t know what our future held, we didn’t know that we would be blessed with Emerson and Everly in our lives, God giving us the privilege to be their parents here on Earth. And while at the time, nothing made sense, I have finally found peace in it all. Not that we have ever forgot, but it is true that time heals, or at the very least, you just learn to live with a hole in your heart.

There aren’t any words that I can say to make those out there who are grieving their losses right now feel any better. Having come from that place of total emptiness, I feel like I should have all of the appropriate words and insights to say to those who need it. Yet, while typing this, I’m scared to write anything, tiptoeing around my words afraid of offending someone who is in their darkest of days. I was there. I remember it clearly. The only thing I feel that may be some sort of comfort is reading my blog post.

If I can offer any type of guidance, I would strongly suggest just reaching out and talking about it. Some days are easier than others. There is always sadness and guilt, some days you learn to mask it better than others. It took me two years to open up and feel comfortable talking about it. But finally when I did, it wasn’t so much as talking about a loss, but it was discussing with my peers, friends, and the world about how much hope it brought us. People won’t have all the right things to say, maybe they won’t say anything at all. But just talk. Let it out, don’t hold back.

1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. 1 in 4. We all have four close female friends. It’s more common than you think, and it’s absolutely gut-wrenching to think that. Please help me bring awareness and join me in lighting a candle at 7pm as we remember these angel babies taken from us too soon, gone but never forgotten.

If you can find any solace or comfort in my story, click this link to read about our miscarriage loss. It’s long. It’s deep. And it’s raw. But I wrote from the heart, and I hope it can shed some light on at least one person’s journey.
