Modern Floral Destination Wedding at French’s Point, Maine | Courtney & Mark

Courtney reached out to me after seeing my daughter’s vellum eucalyptus first birthday invitations on Oh So Beautiful Paper, hoping I could recreate something similar for her and Mark’s destination wedding to French’s Point, Maine.

I knew right away that Courtney and Mark had the most exquisite taste. Their love for vellum, organic lines, and hand-drawn details was at the forefront of their wedding invitation collection, paired with florals in rich burgundies, deep eggplant purples, and tones of burnt orange. A custom illustration of French’s Point took center stage on the invitation itself, paired with an organic script font and soft deckled edges. The vellum wrap was adorned with bold florals and hand-drawn leafy vines, secured with their wedding date hang tag. Beyond the invitation itself, leafy vines fell across pale gray envelopes framing the addresses perfectly on both sides. As you can tell, no detail was overlooked.

It was a huge honor to design and create something so beautiful for Courtney and Mark on their special day. I am so glad that this custom wedding invitation collection will last a lifetime and serve as a paper heirloom of the day they said “I do.”

October 15 Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

For all the babies taken from us too soon,
for our babies lost through miscarriage,
for our babies lost through stillborn,
for our babies lost to SIDS,
we will always remember you.

Miscarriage, SIDS, Stillborn Infant Pregancy loss

I can’t believe that it has been five years since we became pregnant with our first baby, a secret we kept from the whole world, wanting to protect this babe (and our hearts) from that chance of losing you. And we did. We lost our first baby to miscarriage at just under 10 weeks, a few days after New Years 2014.

Rereading that blog post, after finally finding the courage to write about our miscarriage two years later, brings back so many emotions and makes my heart hurt so bad. We didn’t know what our future held, we didn’t know that we would be blessed with Emerson and Everly in our lives, God giving us the privilege to be their parents here on Earth. And while at the time, nothing made sense, I have finally found peace in it all. Not that we have ever forgot, but it is true that time heals, or at the very least, you just learn to live with a hole in your heart.

There aren’t any words that I can say to make those out there who are grieving their losses right now feel any better. Having come from that place of total emptiness, I feel like I should have all of the appropriate words and insights to say to those who need it. Yet, while typing this, I’m scared to write anything, tiptoeing around my words afraid of offending someone who is in their darkest of days. I was there. I remember it clearly. The only thing I feel that may be some sort of comfort is reading my blog post.

If I can offer any type of guidance, I would strongly suggest just reaching out and talking about it. Some days are easier than others. There is always sadness and guilt, some days you learn to mask it better than others. It took me two years to open up and feel comfortable talking about it. But finally when I did, it wasn’t so much as talking about a loss, but it was discussing with my peers, friends, and the world about how much hope it brought us. People won’t have all the right things to say, maybe they won’t say anything at all. But just talk. Let it out, don’t hold back.

1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. 1 in 4. We all have four close female friends. It’s more common than you think, and it’s absolutely gut-wrenching to think that. Please help me bring awareness and join me in lighting a candle at 7pm as we remember these angel babies taken from us too soon, gone but never forgotten.

If you can find any solace or comfort in my story, click this link to read about our miscarriage loss. It’s long. It’s deep. And it’s raw. But I wrote from the heart, and I hope it can shed some light on at least one person’s journey.

Decorate Your Desktop | October 2018

Another month, another free wallpaper background for you to enjoy!

This month’s free wallpaper is a favorite quote of mine by Atticus, a Canadian poet who has kept his identity under wraps. His words, the way he writes, and his hidden identity all make his work so much more alluring. I recently bought Love Her Wild, a collection of poems by Atticus, and pretty much dog-eared every single page. Definitely recommend it! I’m now waiting to receive another, The Dark Between Stars, hoping this one is just as good. I’ll keep you updated! 🙂 You can bet that I’ll be using a lot of Atticus poetry in the future, it’s so incredibly good.

As always, scroll below to get your free wallpaper backgrounds. If this particular wallpaper doesn’t do it for you, take a look at all of my recent free wallpaper background freebies.

Moody Romantic Wedding at Rib Mountain, Wausau | Jaclyn & Elling

When Jaclyn reached out to me to discuss custom wedding invitations, she knew exactly what she wanted. Moody, dramatic, and different. Jaclyn and Elling wanted custom invitations that were unexpected and unlike what everyone typically sees, stepping way from the daintiness of florals and soft color schemes.

Jaclyn and Elling selected a casual trifold wedding invitation format with bold and moody watercolors flowing throughout the trifold effortlessly. Paired with a modern script font and a few paint splatters, their custom wedding invitations are everything wild and different. We finished off the moody wedding suite with a brass eyelet fastener, folding the invitation into itself with the finest gold thread, housed in the prettiest of gray envelopes.

I am so honored to have worked with Jaclyn and Elling, making their custom wedding invitations exactly what they had wanted. A treasured heirloom that they will have and cherish for a lifetime together.

Be sure to scroll below to see a few of my favorite shots from their wedding day, captured by the fabulous Natural Intuition Photography from Madison, Wisconsin.

These are absolutely dreamy, right? The lighting, her dress, those smiles <3 Head to Natural Intuition’s blog post to see more of Jaclyn and Elling’s Rib Mountain Wedding in Wausau, WI.

Decorate your Desktop | September 2018

And somehow, summer has come to an end and September is here. I always welcome the cooler temperatures by the end of summer, but knowing what comes after Fall is what’s hard to accept.

With the transition into a new season, we also have a lot of transitions happening at home. First, we are sending off our little Emerson to 3k. A big decision we didn’t take lightly. I really do try to savor every second of his littleness, but we both know with his shyness putting him into part-time 3k for just a few hours a week will really help him socially. I see it as being more work for me, and our babysitter, dropping him off, with Everly in tow, and picking him up just a few hours later. It will seem like a lot of running, but it’ll just be something we will need to adjust to. We’ve been incredibly blessed to have slow mornings for the past three years, not having to rush the kiddos off to daycare or be really anywhere in the morning.

Another big transition (and a huge secret we’ve been keeping) is that we are in the process of building a new house, and will be listing our first home very soon. I don’t think it has quite set in, leaving this house that we have made so many memories in. Every surface and room in the entire house, and on the outside, too, has been redone and fixed up to make our own. And while we are SO.OVER the endless flip projects and never having enough time for the projects with two littles, it’ll be hard leaving this little corner of the street where we always have the company of our neighbors, within two blocks of three different playgrounds, and a quick walk to the store. I think the kiddos will be just fine adjusting, it’s me who is going to have a tough time. I’ve always felt isolated as a stay-at-home mom, giving up a social life to talk about trucks, bugs, and poop for 13 hours a day, and moving out to the country will only feel more isolating.

Crazy how things change. And realizing how much I hate change. As much as I can try and push back, it’s not going to work that way. I’m just going to have to accept these big life transitions with open arms. Learn to adapt and change, and plan better 🙂

Since I’m not quite ready to let go of summer just yet, I’ve created a Decorate your Desktop wallpaper that’s a slooooow transition into fall. Decorate Your Desktop | August 2018

How are we already in the last month of summer?! After a rough and emotional July to say the very least, August’s Decorate Your Desktop wallpaper was inspired by all of the beautiful, quality people out there who may not always see the best in themselves (aren’t we all our own biggest critic?), while those on the outside looking in only see flawlessness.

Decorate your Desktop | July 2018

Another month, another free desktop wallpaper background at your fingertips.

This Desktop Wallpaper series always ends up being a little life update, so if you’re not into that sorta thing, just scroll below to grab your free wallpapers 🙂

June was the craziest month for us. We started the month out right away with an extended family vacation up north on Lake Holcombe, Wisconsin for 9 days. We really couldn’t have had better weather, and the cabin was absolutely perfect—right on the water, with a private beach, and plenty of rooms for my family, my mom, my sisters and their kids & husbands. We spent every single minute soaking up the sun, playing on the beach, wakeboarding and surfing, and hitting up playgrounds and ice cream shops when we needed a little water break. The babes did surprisingly well, considering our 3 year old always sleeps in his own bed and while at the cabin, he was on a blow-up mattress on our bedroom floor. It was a perfect getaway, close enough to home but far enough away.

Once we got back, we had a week to recover, unpack, laundry (for dayssss), catch up on work, get a few workouts in, only to pack our bags again for a trip to Whistler, Canada. Just me and the husband this time…no kiddos 🙂 Brent earned this trip through work, and we debated for a few months whether or not we would go, since we knew it was going to butt up to the family cabin trip. The more we thought about it, the more we realized that we would probably never have this chance again so we took it.

Our usual vacation trips are always somewhere in Mexico. You can’t go wrong with cheap airfare, the beach and water, and all-inclusive drinks 🙂 We knew going into the Canada trip that it would be much different. It was incredible, completely insane. From true whitewater rafting, to my first gondola ride up to Whistler Mountain, the views were spectacular. We literally felt like we were on top of the world. It was really an indescribable feeling. We took a fun “nature walk” that turned into getting lost for three hours. We ended up calling a cab and heading to a bar, followed with three much deserved cases of Corona. We took razors up through the mountains for 2 hours. And of course, there was lounging by the pool, dips in the hot tub, lots of adult beverages, fantastic food, and great conversation. We even got a few workouts in, too.

It was the month of high highs and then a gut-wrenching low. I don’t want to get into details, since there are still so many unanswered questions, but just know that my sister, her baby, and our family really need some major prayers right now.

I’m hoping July will bring hope and understanding, and be a month of getting back to the grind. Focusing on work, house projects, working out, and productive weekends at home. That all sounds pretty damn amazing to me…there’s nothing I like better than schedule and routine, let’s not forget health and happiness, too.

Now onto your Free July Wallpapers. This design is bolder and edgier than my usual designs, like May’s floral wreath wallpaper and June’s abstract acrylic wallpaper. But I sorta dig it. I hope you do, too. Scroll below to get the links to your free downloads.

Decorate your Desktop | June 2018

Another month has passed, another Decorate your Desktop Wallpaper Series is at your fingertips.

The month of May passed by in a blink of an eye over here, and we all welcomed the hot temperatures with open arms. We live for sun, the heat, the water, and the beach and Memorial Weekend honestly couldn’t have been better. Here’s hoping June will be just as warm and bring just as many sunny beach day memories.

This month’s Decorate your Desktop wallpaper is a little reminder of self-love. We always treat everyone around us with so much more kindness and grace than how we treat ourselves. Here’s to being okay with where we are at in life; don’t get me wrong, always striving to be better but being at peace with our present.

Succulent-Inspired Barn Wedding Invitations, a Wedding at The Barn on Stoney Hill

Sharing a pretty succulent wedding invitation collection with you today to celebrate Mykayla and Jonathan’s one year anniversary!

Last year, Mykayla reached out to me to help with your wedding stationery. When I met with Mykayla and Jonathan at Starbucks (of course), I knew right away that they were going to be such a fun couple to work with. Our aesthetics matched and conversation was just so dang easy with these two lovebirds.

I had the honor of creating everything from their Save the Date cards to the succulent-inspired wedding invitations, wedding programs, a large ceremony hanging, and reception signage. From their beautiful wedding color palette of cream, sage, and lavender with the subtle pops of gold, their wedding at the Barn on Stoney Hill was nothing short of amazing.

Take a looksy at their pretty paper items below, and beautiful photographs of their wedding day (including the huge calligraphy wedding altar display I designed!) to follow.

Decorate your Desktop | May 2018

Just when I didn’t think winter could get any longer, it did. Halfway into April and we were still getting snow, 12” on the 14th of April was so depressing. Even at the end of January, I was so over winter…being cooped up with two toddlers is no joke, but I kept trying to be positive. “If we can make it to March, things will be okay!” Then March came and we didn’t have a ton of snow, but it was so windy making it SO.COLD! And now with April, thinking we’d be in the 50s most days, I thought we made it through. (Yup, I was that desperate that in February I looked at the weather almanac for last March, April, and May, just so I could see the light—the warmth!—that was upon us.)

Just this past week it has finally felt like Spring and all of us Wisconsinites are welcoming it with open arms. It was kind of funny to see how many people were out and about last weekend, riding bikes, walking dogs, pushing strollers & swings. It’s like the saying goes…”what good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.” This long winter will surely make us all extremely grateful for these warm, spring days and make us all get out every single day we can.

Cheersing to a warmer & sunnier month of May! Scroll down to get your free downloads!
