Year in Review | The Highlights of 2015 at Mint for Hue
2015 was definitely one for the books! From having a baby to being published in Wisconsin Bride magazine, there are so many highlights of 2015 that I want to share with you all. The days were long, especially the first couple of months with a newborn 😉 but the year went by oh so fast. There were ups and downs, and definitely rollercoasters of emotion, going from an independent, career-driven employee to first and foremost, a stay-at-home mom and secondly, a small business owner in a matter of weeks. After a year, I think I have finally settled into the routine of things and couldn’t be more proud of this past year. Scroll on to read about some of this year’s biggest accomplishments.
January – We started 2015 on a high note, welcoming our sweet baby Emerson on the 14th. It was one of the best days of my life, to finally meet him and have him safely in my arms. That day our lives changed forever, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Read more about this stubborn little stinker’s birth story here.
February – Just six weeks after Emerson was born, I attended the Metropolis Bridal Fair in Eau Claire, WI. It was the first time away from my little man which was tough, but it was so great to interact with excited brides, mingle with other vendors, and continue pursuing my passion of wedding stationery design.
March – In March, Amber Gabbey of Beginnings Bridal Guide & Workbook asked if I would share tips on choosing a wedding stationer. In the article, I talk about why brides should choose a custom designer over big box companies, how the stationery process works, and all sorts of tips & advice. Click on over to read the full story at Beginnings Bridal Guide & Workbook, starting on page 58 🙂
April – This month, my little family celebrated my golden birthday at an indoor waterpark. It was our first mini vacation with Emerson, and it couldn’t have been more perfect timing since this month he started sleeping through the night! Emerson had more fun floating around in the whirlpool in our room than the super loud and cold waterpark. It was definitely a fun getaway that I’ll remember forever.
May – This month brought all sorts of feels. One year ago on Mother’s Day, we told our families that we were expecting this little guy and this year, I got to celebrate it with him in my arms. I am so glad God chose me to be his momma.
June – This month, Michelle and John tied the knot and I couldn’t be more proud of all the custom stationery work I designed for these two. From their custom handlettered Save the Date cards to their Navy Pocketfold Wedding Invitation Collection, there was no detail overlooked. Bright watercolor blooms flowed throughout their stationery design and we finished the wedding suite off with a custom ‘XO’ wax seal. Michelle and John were so, so great to work with and their collection will always be one of my favorites. Click here to see their complete suite.
July – This month, Christy of Christy Janeczko Photography asked me to come aboard for a styled boho anniversary shoot and our work was featured on Style Me Pretty Wisconsin! Every detail was meticulously analyzed and it totally paid off. Read more about this HUGE accomplishment on my blog and definitely be sure to check out the ful feature on Style Me Pretty Wisconsin.
August – After months and months of keeping the biggest secret ever, this month I finally got to shout from the rooftops that my work was featured in Wisconsin Bride magazine (top left). Somebody pinch me! I still can’t believe that this happened. I secretly had it on my 2015 Business Goals list, and I totally got to put a check mark next to that baby!
September – Just when I thought things were slowing down for the year, all of the side projects started stacking up. This month, I got together with Christy again of Christy Janeczko Photography when she came to my home to shoot pretty stationery collections for my portfolio. She also snapped some photos of my home office and took a few headshots, as well. You’re the best, Christy! <3
October – This month I attended The Wedding Party Bridal Show at Lake Wissota Golf. I added a bunch of new collections to my booth and also showcased items beyond the invitations: menus, favor tags, table numbers, even a cake topper!
November – To say that there’s a lot of juggling when you’re a stay-at-home mom and small business owner is a total understatement. So this month, I made it a priority to update my portfolio. I think it’s crucial for potential clients to see my most recent work and how my brand has evolved in the past few years. For those of you who want to see even more updates, be sure to follow me on Instagram and ‘Like’ my Facebook page 🙂
December – This month I spent hand-ripping 200 wedding collections for Taylor and Henry’s deckle-edge wedding invitations. These could possibly be the most simple, most beautiful black and white wedding invitations I have ever designed. So thank you, T & H, for trusting me and for wanting the “wow” factor.
To do a full year recap makes me realize all of the year’s triumphs, instead of focusing on the pitfalls. While I am constantly learning about building my business and strengthening my brand, I understand that I will have shortcomings and sometimes I tend to focus on those. Until I write everything down on paper, (there’s my list-making Type A personality coming through!) it’s so much easier to channel those setbacks. I am so proud of all of my accomplishments and I am motivated more than ever to make this year even better. Heck, it’s been one hell of a January already. And the reason why this recap is weeks late! 🙂
